Monthly Music Discoveries: Music I liked this month [SEPTEMBER]
The top 10 best new music that I have stumbled upon + 3 Newly discovered Artists
Welcome to the first post in this monthly series where I share newly discovered songs I just had to add to my playlist.
Buddy Holly - Weezer
The song's intro gives off somewhat of a hypnotic sound that I enjoy. The guitar sounds used are otherworldly.
Lateralus - TOOL
I listened to this song without realizing it was almost 10 minutes. I recommend sitting down and bracing yourself for what you’re about to feel and experience when listening.
I don’t see myself ever getting tired of this song.
Champagne Coast - Blood Orange
This song doesn’t make me feel like I’m on the ground. Maybe the feeling is me floating or rising, just anywhere but on the ground. The background vocals are beautiful but haunting 10/10 song.
Daylight (ft. Teezo Touchdown & Cash Cobain) - Lancey Foux
When first hearing the intro of this song, I thought It would just be a pleasant classical soundtrack. But once the beat dropped, I knew I was in for something mythical. I have yet to hear Teezo Touchdown miss in a collab. If you like a classical piano and rap mixed beat with ethereal sounds, then this song is for you.
Roses - See You Next Year & Teezo Touchdown
Now I’ve heard Teezo sing, but not like this. His vocals were sounding DIVINE. And don’t even get me started on the electric guitar.
Runnin’ Away - Blood Orange, Ian Isiah, and Jason Arce
Piano + Jazzy Instruments + Echoy vocals = an entrancing listening experience.
The lyrics are super relatable. The wordplay goes crazy too.
Remember When - Chevelle
These unique vocals remind me of Freddie Mercury and other 80s icons except more metal. Brace yourself for what you’re about to experience with this song. Any words I try to write won’t do this song any justice. Just listen. I recommend listening with loud, good-quality headphones.
Mirage - Orion Sun
This song is WAY too short. The sounds will pull you in so deep just for everything to fade out in less than a minute.
WILLOW - Segen
I came across this song when I was watching a short film on YouTube thought it was Willow Smith singing but it wasn’t. This song makes me feel like I’m singing my heart out on a lonely beach somewhere. I‘m hoping that this artist gets way more attention than she has right now.
Newly Discovered Artists
1. Blood Orange
I first came across Blood Orange when I saw a cool poster on Pinterest. At first, I thought it was just a concept design, but after seeing a few more similar designs I thought I’d check the artist out. I don’t regret it at all.
2. Chevelle
I get a little pissed off whenever I see this band now because how come no one told me about this band when I was looking for bands similar to Deftones?
3. TOOL
I discovered a lot of playlist gems this month and hope to have the same success in October.
