Monthly Music Discoveries: Music I liked this month [OCTOBER]

The top 7 best new music that I have stumbled upon, 3 Newly discovered Artists + 2 Rediscovered Songs

Pet - A Perfect Circle

This band thought it could hide from me. I heard a clip of this song and was instantly captivated. I quickly went to Spotify and listened to the music (after giving props to the person who posted it on their notes of course). Their lead vocal member is the same one from the band Tool, which made much sense to why I liked the song so much. The whole song experience felt like a story with multiple plot points. I’ll be checking out the rest of their discography—all of it. You need to listen for yourself, especially if you enjoy the band Tool.

Headlock - Imogen Heap

I first heard this off of TikTok and decided to listen to myself. I was not disappointed tall all. I think the younger me who was obsessed with Lisa Frank and aesthetics would love this song.

Circe- Ghost

Can you hear the rumble?
I love the mix of specific sounds taken from metal, classical, etc. This is definitely my gateway song into more classic rock and heavy metal.
“It’s so heavy yet calming.” - a 7-year-old YouTube comment.

Mid - Teezo Touchdown

I have yet to be disappointed when listening to an unheard Teezo Touchdown song.

Jars - Chevelle

This masterpiece is a must listen if you enjoy rock. I can never imagine this song getting old, or any Chevelle song for that matter. My Spotify-wrapped prediction is that Chevelle will be in my top 5 most listened-to artists, even after only discovering them last month.

april’s - bloom - julie

I was looking through a cool person’s Instagram highlights and came across this. I thought to myself, what is this? The drums, guitar, bass, it was all just so insane to me. I wasn't surprised when I checked the song and artist name and discovered that it was by julie. This is a MUST LISTEN.

RUSSIAN ROULETTE (I ADORE U) - millkzy

This song introduced a whole nother genre of rap I never knew I needed: Heavenly Rap (It’s not actually the genre name, but it sounds suitable enough). The song wastes no time you immersing you. It was a very enjoyable listening experience. His lyrics feel like a part of the song instead of random ad-libs.

Artists

1. A Perfect Circle

I’m looking forward to listening to more of their music.

2. millkzy

I’m excited to hear more from him and even more excited to hear better songs than RUSSIAN ROULETTE.

3. julie

I already have a few of their songs in my likes but after hearing april’s - bloom, I knew I didn’t have nearly enough. I’ll be listening to their albums very soon.

Rediscovered Song

Glitter - BENEE

I first discovered this song during lockdown. I was in middle school around this time. I remember jamming out to this song every time I heard it. It was definitely a repeat song. I removed it from my likes playlist for whatever reason a long time ago. Im glad I redisvored it. I love the groove and the nostalgic feel it carries.

Chained To The Rhythm - Katy Perry, Skip Marley

Rehearing this song in a mall brought back so many memories from elementary. I just couldn’t get enough of Katy Perry back then. This song is catchy to this day.
